How to create and manage training plans for athletes

Training Plan Management: A Comprehensive Guide

Managing your training library efficiently is key to delivering high-quality programming to your athletes. This guide covers how to create, organise, and version your training plans within the platform to streamline your coaching workflow.

How to Create a New Training Plan

You can begin building a new programme and constructing specific sessions in just a few steps:

  1. Navigate to the Training Plans: From your main Dashboard, go to the User Library and select Training Plans.
  2. Open the Editor: Click the Add/View icon in the top-right corner to launch the training plan editor.
  3. Build the Schedule: Click the Plus (+) icon on the desired day (e.g., Day 1) to open the Workout Builder. (How to use the workout builder)
  4. Construct Sessions: Follow the prompts within the Workout Builder to finish your specific session details.

Top Navigation Menu Overview

Once your plan is open, the top menu provides several administrative and distribution tools to manage your content:

  • Assign to Athletes: Directly push a saved plan to an athlete’s Calendar or add a published plan to their personal Library.
  • Share with Coach: Collaborate by sending a copy to a colleague; you can toggle permissions between Read-Only or Edit access via the side panel.
  • Move to Folder: Keep your library organised by categorising plans into specific folders.
  • Publish: Finalise the plan for distribution or marketplace listing.
  • View Versions: Track iterations and audit changes made to the current active plan.

Advanced Plan Customisation and Structure

Beyond basic workout scheduling, you can add supplementary content to enhance the athlete experience:

  • Adding Resources: Select the three-dot menu at the bottom-right of any specific day to attach blogs, assessments, or additional documentation.
  • Adding Weeks: Click the Add New Week button located directly below the current week’s schedule.
  • Managing Week Blocks: Use the three-dot menu above the week number to duplicate, delete, or re-order entire weekly blocks.

Publishing and Distribution Settings

When you are ready to deploy your plan, click the Publish button. You must complete the following metadata fields to ensure your plan is searchable and professional:

  • Title and Cover Image
  • Target Athlete Level and Sport
  • Objectives and Gender
  • Visibility and Access Levels

The platform offers different publishing states depending on your coaching tier: Draft (direct assignment only), Restricted (permission-based access), Standard Public (direct shareable link), and Featured/Verified (available on the marketplace).

Version Control and Restoring Plans

If you need to revert to a previous iteration of a programme, use the View Versions tool (clock icon) in the top menu:

  1. Open Version Panel: Click the View Versions icon to see the archived, drafts, and active plans.
  2. Locate Version: Find the specific version you wish to recover.
  3. Select Restore: Click the three-dot menu and select Restore as Draft.
  4. Finalise Changes: Once the earlier version is restored, click Save and Finish.

Tip: Regularly categorising your plans into folders and maintaining clear version titles ensures that your library remains organised as your coaching business scales.
